Chelsea manager Frank Lampard could offload as many as eight players this summer according to the report from The Sun.

Frank Lampard and Chelsea are expected to carry out a major shakeup of the playing squad when this summer’s transfer window opens.

The Blues didn’t sign anyone last summer because of the transfer ban slammed on them by FIFA before they failed to stop that trend of signing no player in the January transfer window despite the fact that their ban was lifted as at then. Since the last transfer window ended, Chelsea have signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax Amsterdam.

Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech will join Chelsea from Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam in a £38m deal in the summer.

The Sun revealed that at least eight first team players are fighting for their future at Chelsea who are battling to stay in the top four of the Premier League following the threat from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Arsenal and Sheffield United.

Left-backs Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri are not highly rated by Lampard and they are expected to leave the club this summer.

Club skipper Cesar Azpilicueta has been used at left-back on several occasions.

Wingers Pedro Rodriguez and Willian are gradually winding down on their respective Chelsea contracts which will expire this summer and it’s looking that their deals won’t be renewed.

Ross Barkley and Jorginho are the only midfielders on the list of Chelsea players  while centre back Kurt Zouma and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga round off the list.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is the most expensive goalkeeper in the world after Chelsea paid £71m for his transfer but he has not had the best of seasons and that has seen the Spanish international lose his place in the Chelsea XI.

Substitute goalkeeper Willy Caballero has started the last four games in all competitions.
