Just Mourinho was happy to see a very energetic Spurs team win over the two times reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City but he was furious with the VAR decisions.

Jose Mourinho would have been vindicated if Raheem Sterling was sent off in the first half before applauding his players for the effort they put against Manchester City.

In the first 45 minutes, there were plenty of flashpoints  at the stadium, When VAR awarded City a penalty after claiming that Serge Aurier brought down Sergio Aguero in the 18-yard box.

Ilkay Gundogan penalty was saved by Hugo Lloris, but football lovers started to question the Video technology when Raheem Sterling escaped a red card after a harsh challenge on Dele Alli.

Raheem Sterling stepped on his fellow England international, but he was not awarded a booking for the foul, leaving Jose Mourinho angry in the dugout.

Oleksandr Zinchenko was dismissed for a second bookable offence which reduced the visitors to 10 men.

Steven Bergwijn scored his debuted goal for Tottenham, before Son Heung-min added a second in the 71st minute, which ended the match in a 2-0 win in favour of Tottenam.

In one word, Jose Mourinho described his team performance as “phenomenal”, but went on to criticize VAR for two  decisions against them.

Jose Mourinho said:

“I am so pleased for the boys. We were a bit lucky in a couple of situations, but the other perspective very, very unlucky the VAR did not decide for a Raheem Sterling red card,” he said post-match.

“It was a clear red card and completely different game if we played for 75 minutes against 10 men.
“I see other situations where the decision is red. The red card of Son Heung-min against Chelsea.

“The boys were phenomenal. The save was fantastic, God’s will because it was not a penalty.”

Jose Mourinho also commented on Bergwijn’s superbed goal:

“So sharp. Unstoppable for a great goalkeeper.”

Tottenham are now four points behind Chelsea in the English Premier League table.

Jose Mourinho also stated the difficulty playing for three leagues:

“It is going to be difficult. We are in three competitions. But it was a good weekend for us.”

Tottenham next game will be against Southampton in the FA Cup fourth-round replay on Wednesday.
