Premier League side Arsenal have missed out on the signing of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimares after his transfer to French Ligue 1 giants Lyon was confirmed on Thursday.
Arsenal were interested in the player with earlier reports revealing that sporting director Edu met with the representatives of the player last week to discuss the possibility of a transfer to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners were not willing to spend money on his transfer until this summer and that has prompted him to join Lyon from Atletico Paranaense in the Brazilian Serie A.
Lyon have signed him from the Brazilian club for €25m.

The 22-year-old midfielder was one of the best players in the Brazilian top flight last season as he helped his team to fifth position on the league table.
Arsenal have concentrated on centre back and full-back positions in the current window as manager Mikel Arteta strengthens his team defensively.
Arteta and Arsenal made their first signing on Wednesday with the loan capture of another player from a Brazilian Serie A club after Pablo Mari joined from Flamengo.
The Gunners are to pay around £4m for the loan deal until this summer.
They are closing in on the loan transfer of Cedric Soares from Southampton as well.
