North London giants Arsenal are trying to sign Southampton right-back Cedric Soares before this January winter window ends on Friday.
This is according to the report from Sky Sports which stated that the Gunners are working on a £5m deal for Portuguese international Cedric Soares.
The Southampton defender has six months left on his present contract at the South Coast club and he’s not expected to sign a new contract at the St. Mary’s Stadium.
The Gunners have already made their first signing of the current transfer market with the loan capture of Pablo Mari from Flamengo in the Brazilian top flight.

Spanish center-back Pablo Mari has joined the Gunners on loan until the end of the season with the option to sign him on a permanent deal.
The 26-year-old has joined Arsenal on loan from Flamengo after the Gunners paid €4m for his loan transfer.
Pablo Mari also doubles as the first signing under Mikel Arteta.
Former Arsenal midfielder Arteta became the Gunners boss last month after penning a deal until 2023.
If he signs, Cedric Soares will provide competition for Hector Bellerin at right-back.
Hector Bellerin has been injured for the majority of the last year but the Spaniard is slowly returning back to his best as highlighted in the last two games.
