Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eased the pressure on him at the weekend after his players produced the best display of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era with the 6-0 thrashing of League One club Tranmere Rovers in their FA Cup fourth round clash at the weekend.

The dominant away win ensured that Manchester United booked their place in the fifth round of the competition.

Manchester United will now face Derby County or Northampton Town in the last 16 of the competition to determine the team with the quarterfinal slot in this season’s FA Cup.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had been under serious pressure ahead of the Tranmere Rovers game after two successive league defeats to Liverpool and Burnley.

Solskjaer and his players have a different challenge next and its Manchester City away from home in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semifinal tie.

Manchester United have a mountain to climb after losing 3-1 at home in the first leg but they can take solace from the fact that they won at the match venue (Etihad Stadium) in the league in December.

Expected Manchester United XI: David De Gea; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, Brandon Williams; Nemanja Matic, Fred, Jesse Lingard; Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial.
