Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes is on the verge of wrapping up his transfer to Premier League giants Manchester United according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The respected media personnel confirmed that the player will travel to Manchester for his medical alongside his agent Miguel Pinho as the Red Devils close in on a deal for him after three week of intense negotiations with Sporting Lisbon.

Bruno Fernandes further corroborated the report from Fabrizio Romano when he was briefly interviewed by Portuguese TV station SIC.

According to him, the Premier League is his preferred destination and that can only mean that a move to Manchester United is on the cards.

Bruno Fernandes was the subject of a late interest from Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona.

Reports had claimed that Barcelona were in talks with Sporting Lisbon over the midfielder and that the 25-year-old would be loaned to fellow La Liga side Valencia after his transfer has been concluded.

The latest interest from Barcelona prompted swift negotiations between Sporting Lisbon and Manchester United.

The Red Devils would finally get their man as things stand after months of pursuing a deal for him dating back to the end of the last campaign.
