Tuesday, January 28

Sporting Lisbon player Bruno Fernandes is desperate to secure his dream move to Manchester United before the January winter transfer market ends this month.

He was in action for Sporting Lisbon on Monday night.

Bruno Fernandes captained Sporting Lisbon to a 1-0 win at home to Maritimo with Colombian defender Cristian Borja getting the only goal of the game.

The lone strike came in the last 15 minutes of the game and the victory took Sporting Lisbon to third position on the league table.

Sporting Lisbon are 19 points adrift of league leaders Benfica on the Portuguese Super League standings.

League leaders Benfica have 51 points from 18 league games, while Sporting Lisbon have played the same number of league games and they have 32 points.

Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon are no closer to agreeing a deal for the transfer of Bruno Fernandes from the former to the latter.

The two clubs are still £10m apart in their valuation of the player according to the Daily Mail.

Sporting Lisbon want £62m for their star player and the Red Devils are said to be preparing an offer of £46m in initial fee plus  £16m in add-ons.

For now, Bruno Fernandes will continue to play his football at Sporting Lisbon.

Manchester United have returned to the negotiation table for Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes according to the London Evening Standard.

The deal was called off after the two clubs failed to agree a transfer fee for Bruno Fernandes and the latest development would be music to the ears of Manchester United fans who are desperate for quality signings.

Manchester United have not had the best of week after two successive defeats in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have not scored a goal or won a game since leading goalscorer Marcus Rashford suffered a back injury during the recent FA Cup third round replay with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Rashford has scored 19 goals this season and his impact has been missed by Manchester United who lost 2-0 to arch rivals and hosts Liverpool in the Premier League last weekend before losing by the same scoreline in the midweek league game at home to Burnley.

Manchester United are long-term admirers of Sporting Lisbon player Bruno Fernandes who was also constantly linked with the club throughout last summer’s transfer window.

Bruno Fernandes scored 32 goals plus 18 assists in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon in the last campaign.

He has also scored eight goals in the league this season.
