Manchester United were granted favor in their quest to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes after his team was knocked out of the Portuguese League Cup by Sporting Braga.
Sporting Lisbon and hosts Sporting Braga met in the first semi-final of the Portuguese League Cup this season and it ended in a 2-1 loss for Bruno Fernandes and his teammates.
A potential move to Manchester United transfer might have been delayed as the player would want to play the final of the competition billed for this weekend.

While Sporting Lisbon were trailing 1-0 in the first half, Bruno produced a quick-thinking freekick for the equalizer from French defender Jeremy Mathieu shortly after he was fouled in the opposition half.
Sporting Lisbon ended that game with three players sent off, while their opponents Sporting Braga had one player sent off in what was a feisty game.
The winner of the second semi-final match between Vitoria Setubal and FC Porto on Wednesday night will face Sporting Braga in the final scheduled for this weekend.
For Bruno Fernandes, a transfer to Manchester United is still far from being completed as Sporting Lisbon and the Red Devils are yet to reach an agreement for his transfer.
