Merseyside club Liverpool have been linked with a record transfer for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz who is also attracting the interest of other European heavyweights.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has huge admiration for Kai Havertz who has painted the German Bundesliga with goals since he became a real force for Bayer Leverkusen last season.

German champions Bayern Munich are also in the mix for the player who’s expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of this season.

In one of his recent interviews as monitored by FourFourTwo, Kai Havertz talked up Bayern Munich as an attractive proposition.

Jurgen Klopp has discussed the possibility of signing Kai Havertz with the Liverpool board according to The Guardian.

The transfer would definitely break the Liverpool transfer record which stands at £75m for the signing of Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton two years ago.

Liverpool will need to pay £100m to sign Kai Havertz who could be the replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

The Reds have not signed a proper playmaker since Coutinho left the club in January 2018.

Liverpool have already made one signing this year with the swoop for Japanese attacker Takumi Minamino and might need to wait till the summer for Kai Havertz.
