Arsenal are in the market for a box-to-box midfielder during this winter period according to The Telegraph.

It was revealed that the Gunners are actively looking to strengthen the squad in two major areas.

The Gunners want to sign a center-back as well as a box-to-box midfielder but they won’t splash the cash unless something too good to turn down comes around before the end of this January transfer window.

Arsenal spent £130m on transfers last summer and that has somewhat restrained them from losing the purse-strings this month.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta also corroborated this during his pre-match presser on Thursday ahead of the Crystal Palace clash this weekend.

According to him, Arsenal are actively exploring the possibility of loan additions to the squad this month.

Arsenal fans won’t be excited about the potential loan deals mentioned by Mikel Arteta going by their experience from last season when Dennis Suarez joined the Gunners on loan from Spanish champions Barcelona.

Dennis Suarez spent the majority of his time at Arsenal on the treatment table between January 2019 when he joined and the summer when his loan period at the Emirates Stadium ended.

Mikel Arteta also discussed the youngsters like Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith-Rowe and others likely to go out of Arsenal on loan.
