The attention of senior Manchester United officials in the current January winter market is to bolster their squad in both midfield and attack posts, but that doesn’t mean their defence is a finished article which is where Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly could be very useful.
Manchester United have been one of the better teams at defending in the Premier League having bought Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire last summer for a combined fee of around £130m but they are still a long way from possessing a league title-winning defence and the signing of Koulibaly could turn the Red Devils into one.

According to well-known journalist Ian McGarry, Manchester United have opened talks with Kalidou Koulibaly about signing for them this month after the Senegalese international became disillusioned with life at Napoli on the back of the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti as manager.
A.C. Milan legend Genarro Gattuso has since replaced Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli and has won one and lost two of his three games in charge.
For Carlo Ancelotti, the Italian has been the Everton manager since his appointment at Napoli was terminated.
He has led Everton to two wins and two defeats since his appointment as the Toffees boss.
Kalidou Koulibaly is rated at around £55m by Napoli.
