The transfer shortlist for Premier League giants Manchester United in this January transfer window has been unveiled by the London Evening Standard.

According to the report from the popular English media portal, Man United have drawn up a six-man transfer shortlist full of midfielders.

The Man United transfer shortlist includes West Ham United defensive midfielder Declan Rice, Leicester City playmaker James Maddison, young Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes, Juventus star Emre Can, Tottenham Hotspur player Christian Eriksen and Newcastle United star Sean Longstaff.

Another publication from the Manchester Evening News (MEN) said that Manchester United tried to sign the duo of Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff and Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen.

It was further stated that West Ham United defensive midfielder Declan Rice and key Leicester City player James Maddison are seruous targets for the Red Devils in this winter transfer market.

Former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick is the assistant to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he’s said to be pushing for the signing of Sean Longstaff who is rated at around £50m by his club.

The Red Devils baulked at his asking price in the summer as they failed to sign any midfielder during last summer’s transfer window.
