West Londoners Chelsea are expected to splash the cash on players when the January transfer window reopens next month as they make up for the lack of signings this summer.
Chelsea were prevented from signing new players in the summer after the transfer ban imposed by FIFA for two windows for their dealings with young players.
Mateo Kovacic was the only arrival this summer as the Croatian international turned his loan spell in the previous season into a permanent transfer in a £40m deal.
The player was able to join Chelsea this summer since he has already been registered by the club during his loan spell during the 2018/19 season.
