Premier League leaders Liverpool are the first club to make a signing in the January transfer window amongst the teams in the English top flight and the latest reports in the Spanish media claimed that they are closing in on a signing next summer.
Liverpool have signed Takumi Minamino from Austrian Bundesliga champions Red Bull Salzburg and the 24-year-old Japanese international will join his new club officially on January 1.

Spanish news outlet El Desmarque said that Liverpool are in pole position to sign Brazilian center-back Diego Carlos who played his club for Spanish La Liga outfit Sevilla at the moment.
Diego Carlos has been a revelation since the Brazilian defender left French Ligue 1 club Nantes for Sevilla in the summer and it has been stated that the Reds want to sign him as the perfect partner for Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of their defence.
He has a release clause of £63m in his Sevilla contract which Liverpool is ready to pay in full next summer to ward off the interest of Real Madrid whose president Florentino Perez see him as the long-term replacement for club skipper Sergio Ramos.

In his six months stay at the club, Daniel Sturridge scored seven goals in 16 appearances which gave hope to the team but that was cut short in March 2020.
The 30-year-old has since been without a club but with the transfer window set to reopen, he is hopeful of securing a deal away from Turkey.
