New Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could be forced to make a major transfer decision after the events that took place at the end of his first home game in his new job as the Gunners boss.

Mikel Arteta is a former assistant manager to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, and the former Arsenal player was appointed into his new job earlier this month.

His first game was the away clash at South Coast club Bournemouth which ended in a 1-1 draw on Boxing Day.

The second game for Mikel Arteta as the Arsenal manager was the home game against Chelsea in the London Derby on Sunday evening, and the Gunners’ Achilles heel reared its ugly head again.

The Achilles heel for Arsenal is their defence and it was evident for all to see during the London Derby clash with Chelsea and that could prompt Mikel Arteta to sign a quality defender in the January transfer window.

Arsenal would have won the Chelsea game at the weekend with a solid defence after the Gunners conceded two goals in the last ten minutes for a 2-1 defeat having led for around 70 minutes.

The likes of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and RB Leipzig centre back Dayot Upamecano have been linked with Arsenal.
