Mikel Arteta is a former Arsenal player who spent five years at the club between 2011 and 2016 before calling it quit with his football career.
The ex-Barcelona and Everton player joined Premier League champions Manchester City as an assistant to Pep Guardiola in the summer of 2016 until this month when he left the Citizens to take his first managerial job.
His first game as the Arsenal manager was the league trip to Bournemouth on Boxing Day and there were encouraging signs for the Gunners though Mikel Arteta was unable to get a win in his first match as the two teams played out a 1-1 draw to leave the Gunners in the bottom half of the table at the halfway stage.
