Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is desperate to shore up his defense in the upcoming January transfer window and has turned his attention to a former player in Nathan Ake who plays for Bournemouth in the Premier League.

This is according to the publication from the stables of Football London which stated that Chelsea want to re-sign Nathan Ake and pay the £40m in his release clause.

Nathan Ake was linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer before the Red Devils turned their attention to another center-back in Harry Maguire whom they made a record signing for defenders after splashing the sum of £80m on the Three Lions of England defender.

Dutch international Nathan Ake was at Chelsea until he was loaned out to Bournemouth at the start of the 2016/17 campaign.

He impressed a great deal for the Cherries for six months before being recalled by then Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

His move to Bournemouth became permanent in the summer of 2017 after the Cherries paid the huge sum of £20m for him.

A release clause of £40m was inserted into his contract, while Chelsea had a buyback option thus giving them an edge over the other clubs that might be interested in the utility defender.
