South Coast club Bournemouth have identified Manchester United defender Phil Jones as a potential candidate to replace Nathan Ake in the event that they decide to cash in on him when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
As reported by The Sun, Manchester United centre back Phil Jones is one of many Red Devils stars with less than a year on their respective futures at Old Trafford.
Phil Jones has been linked with other Premier League sides like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, partly due to the uncertainty surrounding his future at Manchester United.
Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake could be on his way out of the club with several teams such as Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United interested in him.
Phil Jones would certainly be a potential replacement for Nathan Ake if Bournemouth decide to cash in on the Dutch international.
Jones was one of the final signings made by former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson before he left the club at the end of the 2012/13 season.
He signed for the Red Devils in 2011 after English Championship side Blackburn Rovers received around £16m for his transfer.
The England international player has not been able to live up to expectations mainly due to injuries.
