Europa League campaigners Arsenal are reportedly in talks with fellow Premier League side Manchester City over Mikel Arteta who they hope to appoint as their new manager soonest.

This is according to Sky Sports which stated that Arsenal Officials are meeting with their Manchester City counterparts over Mikel Arteta who is their assistant manager.

Mikel Arteta is a former manager and the 37-year-old is the overwhelming favourites to become the new permanent manager at Arsenal.

He is the frontrunner to replace compatriot Unai Emery as the Arsenal manager.

Club legend Freddie Ljunberg is the interim manager at Arsenal at the moment but the Gunners’ form has not really improved from what it was under Unai Emery.

Freddie Ljunberg is a former Arsenal winger and the Swede was an assistant manager under the Unai Emery managerial era at the club.

He has led Arsenal to just one win in five games in all competitions.

His sole win came last week Monday during the London Derby clash at West Ham United as the Gunners came from a goal down to beat their hosts 3-1 courtesy three second half goals during the Premier League game at the London Stadium.

Gabriel Martinelli, Nicholas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got the goals for Arsenal.
