Former Croatian international midfielder Niko Kovac is said to be interested in the vacant head coach job at Premier League outfit Arsenal.

This is according to the publication from the stables of The Sun which revealed that Niko Kovac wants the Arsenal job and his representatives have already contacted the club over his desire to replace Unai Emery in the Emirates Stadium.

Spanish manager Unai Emery lost his job as the Arsenal boss after just 18 months on from his appointment last summer.

Ex-Sevilla and Almeria manager Unai Emery was appointed into the post on the back of the exit of Arsene Wenger after two decades plus.

He led the Gunners to fifth position in his debut campaign as the Arsenal manager before losing to London rivals Chelsea heavily in the Europa League final.

Unai Emery could be replaced by Niko Kovac who made his name as a manager at Eintracht Frankfurt whom he led to the 2017/18 German Cup title.

His Eintracht Frankfurt side defeated almighty Bayern Munich to win that trophy.

He left Frankfurt for Bayern in the following season and his debut campaign ended with two trophies namely the German Bundesliga title and the German Cup title.

Niko Kovac was dismissed as the Bayern Munich manager last month following the 5-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt.
