North London club Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set the transfer fee for one of their midfielders according to the latest reports emanating from the media in the United Kingdom.

Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen could leave the club in the New Year with several clubs interested in his services dating back to last summer.

According to the report from the London Evening Standard, Christian Eriksen now has a price tag of £40m as they bid to sell him when the January transfer window reopens in the coming days.

He had a price tag of £100m in the summer when the Danish international had one year left on his current deal at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Christian Eriksen has six months left on his Spurs contract at the moment and the former Ajax Amsterdam playmaker can start to speak with foreign clubs over a free transfer next summer as from January 1.

The 28-year-old was linked with Manchester United in the summer and the Red Devils are expected to return to try and sign him.

He had a very good offer from Manchester United in the summer but the player was holding out for a transfer to Real Madrid which never came.
