Newly appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has approved the pursuit of Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale according to reports in the English media.

It was revealed that Mourinho has told Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy to pursue a move for Welsh international Bale.

Tottenham Hotspur named former Manchester United and Real Madrid boss Mourinho their new manager on Wednesday morning.

It was revealed that Spurs would give Mourinho around £150m to spend on new players as he tries to stamp his imprint on the team inherited at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Jose Mourinho was without a job in the dugout for almost a year before the appointment as Spurs’ boss.

He could be joined by Gareth Bale at the club with the Welshman facing an uncertain future at the Estadio Santiago Bernebeu Stadium.

Bale has less than three years on his Real Madrid contract and he came close to leaving the club during the summer.

He was closing in on a free transfer move to Chinese Super League (CSL) outfit Jiangsu Suning before Real Madrid president Florentino Perez called the deal off.

Long-term Manchester United target Gareth Bale would have earned £1m weekly in China which is a significant increase in his salary of £600,000 at Real Madrid.

He joined Real Madrid from Spurs in a then world-record transfer worth £85.3m some six years ago.
