The Liverpool legend named his Team of the Decade while he was on popular British media channel Sky Sports.
Only one Manchester United player made the list and that was first-choice goalkeeper David De Gea.
The Spanish international shot-stopper was joined in defence by Manchester City legends Pablo Zabaleta and Vincent Kompany.
Vincent Kompany was the Manchester City skipper until this summer when he left for Anderlecht FC of Belgium on a free transfer after his contract finished at the Etihad Stadium, while Pablo Zabaleta is now on the payroll of fellow English top flight club West Ham United.
