German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund have reportedly joined the race to sign Juventus midfielder Emre Can.

This is according to the publication from Sport Bild which revealed that Premier League giants Manchester United have Borussia Dortmund to contend with if they want to sign Emre Can during the January transfer window.

Emre Can is expected to leave Italian champions Juventus during the winter transfer window after losing his place in the first team thus restricting him to just four appearances.

His status at Juventus changed for the worse when Maurizio Sarri was named the new manager this summer.

Emre Can was left out of the Champions League squad by Sarri.

Borussia Dortmund want to sign him on loan until the end of this season before making the deal permanent in the summer and it remains to be seen whether Juventus will agree to a loan move for the German international.

A move to Dortmund gives him the opportunity to move back to his native Germany having left in 2014.

Emre Can left Bayer Leverkusen for Liverpool on a free transfer and he spent four years at Anfield before securing a free transfer move to Juventus.

The German midfielder is one of two Juventus players on Manchester United radar alongside striker Mario Mandzukic.
