Manchester United approached Jurgen Klopp over the possibility of replacing David Moyes in 2014 but then Borussia Dortmund manager ignored the Red Devils due to his wife’s advice.
According to former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson, the former Borussia Dortmund manager had the intention of accepting United’s offer but he surprisingly changed his mind after discussing with his wife.
While speaking with TV2, Thompson revealed that Klopp told him how his wife convinced him to ignore the Red Devils coaching job because she didn’t feel good about the deal.
Coincidentally, Liverpool were also in search of a new manager to replace Brendan Rodgers who left Anfield for Celtic after he narrowly missed out on the League title.

The Merseyside club approached Jurgen Klopp and the German tactician happily accepted the offer, but that’s after discussing with his wife.
As much as it is strange that the highly-regarded manager would let his wife decide his next destination, choosing Liverpool over the Red Devils obviously turned out to be a perfect decision.
His stay at Anfield has brought more fame and value to the team having led them to their sixth Champions League trophy last season.
He was equally close to winning his first Premier League title only to be denied by Pep Guardiola’s awesome team in a title race that stretched to the very last day of the 2018-19 season.
