Manchester United’s search for a top and in-form striker has taken a new twist as the Red Devils are now interested in Uruguayan star Maxi Gomez who currently plays for Spanish side Valencia.
It was Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic who was first linked with a switch to the Premier League giants.
Weeks later, Lyon’s star Moussa Dembele was said to have caught the attention of Solskjaer who desperately seeks to add more firepower to his front-line.
Lille youngster Victor Osimhen, RB Leipzig superstar Timo Werner, Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller and RB Salzburg’s youngster Erling Haaland were all linked with the Red Devils.

Latest rumor, via Calcio Mercato, has it that United are now looking to sign Maxi Gomez in January as replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
The striker hasn’t been in a scintillating form for his Spanish side this season having managed just five goals from 11 matches but he seemed to have done enough in Solskjaer’s eyes.
United will need to trigger Gomez’s release clause of £120.7m if they must stand any chance of completing his signature in January.
As it stands, it is very unlikely to see United release such a huge fee for a player who hasn’t proven his goal-scoring prowess against top clubs since his move to the Spanish League.
