Premier League leaders Liverpool have been boosted by the news that key player Jordan Henderson has returned to training ahead of the blockbuster league meeting with defending champions Manchester City.

Liverpool are bidding to stop the domestic dominance of Manchester City which has lasted for the last two seasons and they have the opportunity to make that big statement when they entertain the Citizens at Anfield on Sunday evening.

The Reds have a six-point lead over the Champions ahead of the game and they are expected to have Jordan Henderson back in their squad for the game.

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson missed the Champions League win over Genk FC of Belgium on Tuesday night.

Without him in the squad, reigning European champions Liverpool were able to secure top spot in Group E as a result of the 2-1 win over Genk.

Georginio Wijnaldum gave the Reds the lead at home inside 15 minutes before Genk striker Mbwana Samatta equalized for the visitors four minutes before the halftime break for his eighth goal in all competitions this term.

Liverpool won the game through the second half strike from in-form midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who has now scored four goals in the last four games for his team.
