Seven-time European champions AC Milan are working on a deal to sign Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic when the January transfer window reopens in the next two months.

The interest of AC Milan in Ivan Rakitic was confirmed by Sports Mediaset as it was revealed that sporting director Zvonimir Boban is working on a deal to sign the Croatian international midfielder.

Ivan Rakitic is a long-term target for the Premier League duo of Manchester United and Chelsea.

Manchester United and Chelsea were both linked with a deal for him in the summer but nothing tangible came out of those transfer links.

Ivan Rakitic is surplus to requirements at Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona as he’s now the fifth choice central midfielder behind the quartet of Frenkie De Jong, Sergio Busquets, Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal.

The Croatian midfielder has been at Barcelona since the summer of 2014 when he joined from fellow Spanish La Liga club Sevilla.

He won the Champions League title in his first season at Barcelona.

In addition, Ivan Rakitic and Barcelona won the Spanish La Liga title in his first campaign at the Nou Camp.

In total, the Croatian national team player has won four league titles at Barcelona.

Granit Xhaka

Three European sides are reportedly keen on a January swoop for Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.

This is according to the report from the Daily Mail which claimed that three clubs want to rescue Granit Xhaka from his nightmare at North London giants Arsenal.

The three European sides are German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, Premier League outfit Newcastle United and seven-time European champions AC Milan.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka was named the club captain earlier this year after the votes from the players as conducted by manager Unai Emery.

The Swiss international had been acting as the club’s skipper since the exit of Laurent Koscielny in the summer before his appointment was confirmed in September.

His reign as the permanent Arsenal captain didn’t last long before Unai Emery removed him from the role on the back of his conduct towards the club’s fans during a recent league game.

Granit Xhaka used expletives against the fans while he was being subbed off for young Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka during the Premier League game at home to fellow London side Crystal Palace.

The incident overshadowed the game which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Xhaka has missed the last four games in all competitions for the Gunners as a result of the incident.

Granit Xhaka

Former Arsenal striker Granit Xhaka could leave the club for Italy when the winter transfer window reopens in a few weeks’ time as it looks like the Swiss international star is keen to leave the North Londoners after his clash with fans last month.

Granit Xhaka has not played the last four Arsenal games in all competitions since his foul-mouthed rant towards the Arsenal fans during the league game with Crystal Palace in the London Derby clash played at the Emirates Stadium.

Swiss media outlet RSI claimed that Granit Xhaka has been spotted househunting in Milan and that has fuelled the possibility of a move to seven-time European champions AC Milan.

He has earlier been linked with Inter Milan in the summer though it seems the latest news is about AC Milan whose chief executive Ivan Gazidis was on the payroll at Arsenal before he moved to Italy.

Granit Xhaka was dropped as the Arsenal captain earlier this month by manager Unai Emery due to his misdemeanor last month during the league game with Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.

He reacted to chorus of jeers and boos from fans during the game while being substituted and that has led to his no-show at the club.

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie is closing in on a move to Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers according to the newest reports from the British media.

Franck Kessie is in his third season at seven-time champions AC Milan after joining the Rossoneri from fellow Italian Serie A outfit Atalanta.

According to Birmingham Mail, Wolves are edging closer to a January transfer for Frank Kessie.

It was revealed that the earlier reports claimed that the Midlands club had agreed on a move for the Ivorian international star since the summer but that is wide off the mark.

Franck Kessie had previously been linked with the London duo of Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Ivorian midfielder was a transfer target for the two London clubs in the summer though the Blues were unable to make any transfer due to the FIFA ban.

Chelsea were handed a transfer ban for two windows after they were deemed to have breached rules about signing players under the age of 18 by world football’s governing body FIFA.

The West Londoners appealed to FIFA over the ruling but their appeal was thrown out thereby prompting them to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) with the ruling expected later this month.

The No.1 Reason AC Milan Want Nemanja Matic Revealed

Nemanja Matic

AC Milan are keenly interested in getting Barcelona want-away midfielder Ivan Rakitic in January as they have reportedly contacted the Catalans to know his availability status.

Rakitic , who has fallen down down the pecking order at Camp Nou, is seen as one of the best and most affordable midfielders by AC Milan manager Zvonomir Boban ahead of the winter window and he’s set to slug it out with local rival Inter Milan for his signature, that’s according to Calcio Mercato.

The media outlet, however, reported that the Serie A side will turn their attention to Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic should they fail to acquire Rakitic’s services.

Matic is not seeing much of first-team actions this season, and his stay at Old Trafford is far from settled as at the time of this reporter.

Boban also considers the Serbian as another transfer option if he fails to beat Inter Milan to Rakitic’s signature in January.

Nonetheless, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t ready to let go of the former Chelsea midfielder in the winter.

Though the Norwegian tactician hasn’t been a fan of the player since the start of the campaign, it will be difficult to see him release the midfielder half-way through to the campaign.

AC Milan Set To Rival Inter and Roma For United’s Want-away Defender

Chris Smalling

Manchester United are set to listen to offer from Roma over Chris Smalling’s services after their initial refusal to let go of the player on a permanent deal.

Smalling is in fine form for the Serie A side and the club are reportedly set to launch a permanent bid for his signature in the next transaction period.

It was earlier revealed that the Red Devils are unlikely to release him, but last week’s report via the Sun claimed that the Old Trafford outfits have placed a £17m price tag on his services.

Meanwhile, the latest report from the Daily Mail suggested that AC Milan and Inter Milan are keeping close tabs on the player’s situation as they are impressed with his performances so far this season.

The two San Siro outfits are said to be interested in the 29-year-old and they are more than willing to beat Roma in the race for his signature in the summer.

Though United are struggling for form at the back of the pitch, the decision to let go of the England international seems the best one as there is a need to offload some ineffective players in the team.

Marcos Rojo could equally be on his way out of the Theatre of Dreams before next season having failed to nail down a permanent spot in the team since the start of Solskjaer’s reign.

Mario Mandzukic

Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic has decided to snub the overtures from fallen European giants like AC Milan and Manchester United according to the latest reports emanating from the Italian media.

Mario Mandzukic is expected to leave Italian Serie A champions Juventus when the transfer market reopens in the New Year and several reports had claimed that his next destination would be the Premier League with Manchester United keen to sign him.

According to Football Italian, Manchester United won’t sign the retired Croatian international player and that he prefers a move to Qatar.

It was also revealed that AC Milan have also been snubbed by the former Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid striker.

Mario Mandzukic is expected to sign for Qatari top flight side Al Duhail SC in the New Year on a yearly salary of around €7.5m.

It was also revealed that Juventus will pay part of his salary upon joining Al Duhail.

Manchester United have been blunt in attack for the better part of this Premier League season and that explains why the Red Devils want to sign Mario Mandzukic to boost their attacking options.

The Red Devils have scored more than one goal in the league on two occasions only.
