Why United’s Move For Top Striker Might Fall Through In January

It’s no longer news that Manchester United are in an intense battle with Liverpool for Timo Werner’s service ahead of the January transfer window.

The two Premier League outfits have developed keen interest in the player following his brilliant start to the season which has seen him scored 13 goals in 15 games in all competitions.

Unfortunately, neither United nor Liverpool will be able to lure the German out of RB Leipzig in the nearest future based on Krosche’s comments on the player’s future.

According to the RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Kroschel, the 23-year-old star recently signed a new contract extension and he is not thinking of changing environment anytime soon.

While speaking with German media Bild, Kroschel revealed that the club are equally doing everything possible to prevent Liverpool or United’s bid from materializing in the winter.

“Timo just extended his contract with us recently, and we’re not thinking about letting him go at all,” he said.

This will come as bad news to United manager Solskjaer and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp who are both interested in upgrading their attack by signing the player before next season.

Manchester United might likely proceed in their mission to sign the youngster despite the latest setback as Solskjaer is in desperate need of a proven goal-poacher.
