Manchester United are linked with a move for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez as Solskjaer is still in search for Romelu Lukaku’s replacement despite Marcus Rashord’s recent display of excellence against Norwich Cory City and Chelsea.

Martinez, 22, currently plays alongside the big Belgian striker under Antonio Conte’s watch but that could change in January as reports claimed he could be brought to Old Trafford in January.

However, Solskjaer have a score to settle with Barcelona if he must sign the Argentine international because the Catalan giants are equally interested in his services.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugranas are keeping close tabs on the player’s performance at San Siro Stadium and his compatriot Lionel Messi has reportedly advised the club hierarchy to ensure that they beat united to his signature.

The 22-year-old has created nine goals in the 13 matches he’s played so far this season but Conte might fail to retain him beyond January as United seem to be desperate with their chase after his services.

With his side’s defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, Solskjaer is now expected to intensify his move for the forward man in January.

Other strikers listed in Solskjaer’s wish-list include Lille’s Victor Osimhen, Juve’s Mario Mandzukic, RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Lyon’s Moussa Dembele
