Premier League leaders Liverpool have returned to winning ways in the league after dropping points during their last outing.

Liverpool dropped points for the first time last weekend via the 1-1 draw away to Manchester United.

The Red Devils were close to a big win over Liverpool before Adam Lallana came off the Reds substitute bench to rescue a point for his team.

Liverpool were able to bounce back from that setback as they overcame an early goal to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at home in their Premier League clash on Sunday evening.

Tottenham Hotspur took an early lead through England national team skipper Harry Kane inside one minute.

Harry Kane gave the visitors the lead after just 47 seconds to stun the Anfield crowd.

Liverpool laid siege on the Tottenham Hotspur defence for the rest of the first half but they were unable to find a breakthrough as the North London club preserved that early lead till the halftime interval.

Liverpool eventually made the breakthrough at the start of the second half courtesy the strike from club captain Jordan Henderson.

The Reds went on to score the winning goal in the 74th minute through a Mohamed Salah penalty after Serge Aurier brought down Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane.

With the 2-1 win over Spurs, Liverpool have extended their lead at the top of the table to six points.
