North London giants Arsenal are interested in a move for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez who has lost his place in the starting XI since the second half of last season.
Joe Gomez was initially the perfect partner for Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool defence but the England international has been usurped by Joel Matip who has formed a potent centre back partnership with Dutch international Van Dijk.
The centre back pairing of Matip and Van Dijk played a crucial role in the Champions League title triumph from last season and it has been a key part of the Liverpool team that has surged to the top of the Premier League this season.

Liverpool are in a strong position as regards Joe Gomez and they are likely to demand a high price for him according to the publication from the stables of the Daily Mirror with Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur also interested in the player.
Tottenham Hotspur have to strengthen their backline in the New Year with the first-choice duo of Jan Vertoghen and Toby Alderweireld winding down their respective contracts at the club.
Both Vertoghen and Alderweireld are key members of the Belgian national team and they have less than a year left on their Tottenham Hotspur contract.
