Italian Serie A giants AS Roma are set to begin talks over a permanent deal for Manchester United loanee Chris Smalling according to the latest reports coming out of the media in Italy.
Chris Smalling is on loan at AS Roma from Manchester United having joined the Italian capital club before the end of the European summer transfer window last month.
According to respected Italian journalist Filippo Biafora, AS Roma officials have been impressed with the performance of Chris Smalling since his move from the Premier League to the Italian capital in September.
It was also revealed by the journalist who works with Italian news outlet II Tempo that AS Roma will initiate their plan to sign the England international center-back in the coming weeks.

AS Roma officials will meet with their Manchester United counterparts to discuss a permanent move for the Englishman.
Chris Smalling had to leave Manchester United this summer as he was not guaranteed regular playing time especially with the arrival of Harry Maguire in August.
Manchester United paid a world record fee for a defender to sign Harry Maguire from fellow Premier League outfit Leicester City.
The Red Devils paid around 80 million pounds to sign the England international star this summer.
