It seems United fans are beginning to see the end of their team’s recent unimpressive performances after Solskjaer’s men put up a commendable display in yesterday’s 1-1 stalemate with Liverpool at Old Trafford.

If they maintain such performance throughout the remaining matches in the season, they will definitely be among the top-four clubs.

To some off-the-pitch issues, young midfielder Angel Gomes is closed to extending his stay with the 20-time Premier League champions following his promotion to the first-team squad.

The midfielder was involved in United’s pre-season tour prior to the start of the season and Solskjaer decided not to loan him to interested suitors.

The player, who made his senior debut at the age of 16, has played just three games this season in all competitions and the Red Devils are set to award a new deal.

According to a well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano via his Twitter account, the Red Devils hierarchy are in talks with the youngster and he could be awarded a new deal in the coming days.

“He’s close to extending his contract with Man United__ more on next days… #MUFC” he wrote on his verified Twitter account.

However, it remains to be seen if the youngster won’t be sent on a loan deal in January as he might find it hard to get regular game-time under Solskjaer should United sign new midfielders in the winter transfer window.
