Manchester United are reportedly set to compete with La Liga giants Real Madrid for the services of 22-year-old midfielder Donny Van de Beek in the next transfer market.

The Ajax versatile midfielder is currently linked with a move out of the Eredivisie side following his explosive performances in Ajax’s awesome Champions League display last season and the two European giants are regarded as his probable destinations.

United, who are uncertain over their chances of having Paul Pogba at Old Trafford beyond January, are reportedly interested in the Dutchman whom Solskjaer sees as the perfect man to replace the Frenchman.

United were earlier credited with an intense interest in the player’s service in the summer but the Reds Devils surprisingly pulled out of the race for his signature due to Ajax’s £35m price tag.

Real manager Zinedine Zidane has equally shown interest in the youngster and the Frenchman is reportedly ready to do everything possible to beat Solskjaer to his service.

Meanwhile, United board members are beginning to lose their faith in Solskjaer’s coaching abilities due to the team’s dismal start to the campaign.

Solskjaer who has gone six matches without a win in all competitions is definitely under pressure and the Glazers could be forced to show him the exit door before the end of the year.
