Almost all media outlets are reporting that the Red Devils are close to reaching an agreement with Juventus for Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic, but the latest report from ESPN reveals that the deal could fail to materialize because the player appears to be asking for too much as weekly wages.
The media outlet are now suggesting that the Red Devils are eyeing a possible move for Uruguay international Edinson Cavani if Mandzukic fails to reduce his demands.
Cavani is a household name in European football judging by his exploits during his days with Serie A side Napoli and the attacking prowess he has shown with his current Paris Saint-German.

The centre-forward is one of PSG’s top players despite the presence of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Di Maria in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
He will definitely add more firepower to Solskjaer’s uninspiring squad should he eventually make his switch to the Old Trafford outfit.
Though it remains to be seen if Cavani would prefer a move to Premier League in January, Manchester United fans will definitely love to see the former Napoli man at the Theatre of Dreams.
As for Mandzukic, Goal claimed that United’s representatives are still in talks with the player’s agent as they hope to seal his signature before the end of the year.
