Liverpool defender Joel Matip has declared himself fit for the crucial Premier League clash with Manchester United later this weekend.

In the biggest game of the weekend on the European football scene, Manchester United will entertain Liverpool at the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday evening.

Joel Matip is back in contention for selection ahead of the Manchester United game after he recovered from the injury that forced him to miss the last two Liverpool games.

The Cameroonian international defender sustained the injury during the penultimate league game at the home of Sheffield United.

Joel Matip helped Liverpool keep a clean sheet as the Reds maintained their perfect start to the new Premier League campaign with a slim 1-0 away win over the newly promoted team.

Georginio Wijnaldum scored the only goal of the game against the Blades.

The Dutch international capitalised on the mistake of Sheffield United goalkeeper Dean Henderson to give Liverpool the much needed win.

Joel Matip went on to miss the 4-3 win over Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg at home as well as the late win over Leicester City at Anfield.

James Milner scored a late penalty to give Liverpool their 17th league win in a row with a 2-1 victory over Leicester City at home.
