Manchester United are set to battle Juventus for Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld in the next January window after their inability to capture him during the previous transfer window.
The Red Devils monitored the player’s contract issue in the summer, hoping to lure him to Old Trafford but all their efforts were unsuccessful.
However, Solskjaer is reportedly set to reignite his interest in the Belgium star as TuttoSport revealed that the Norwegian is impressed with the player’s qualities and experience level.
Meanwhile, United will need to overcome challenges from Juventus in the race for the experienced fullback due to Sarri’s immense desire to have him with the Turin outfits.
The former Chelsea boss, who returned to the Italian giant prior to the start of the campaign, is looking at the prospect of launching a shock bid for Alderweireid’s services.
As it stands, both clubs will have to cough-out nothing below €28m in January if they must stand a chance of signing the versatile defender.
Alternatively, United have a bright chance of getting the player without paying a dime by the end of the season when the player will officially become a free agent.
Alderweireid has featured in all the league matches played by Spurs this season and he has been phenomenal to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
