West London giants Chelsea have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Chelsea host the Magpies in a week nine clash in the Premier League and they could have Emerson Palmieri back in the squad for the game.

Brazilian-born Italian international Emerson Palmieri has recovered from the muscle injury that saw him miss one month of action.

The left-back sustained the injury while he was on international duty with Italy last month.

The former AS Roma player is back in full training ahead of the visit of the Magpies on Saturday evening.

In his absence, Marcos Alonso has deputized for him at left-back.

Marcos Alonso was the undisputed Chelsea left-back before the Spaniard was dethroned by Emerson Palmieri towards the end of last season while Maurizio Sarri was the Blues manager.

Sarri was replaced by Frank Lampard in the summer after the Italian tactician took the managerial job at Juventus.

Since he became the Chelsea manager this summer, former Blues midfielder Frank Lampard has opted for Emerson Palmieri ahead of Marcos Alonso.

Emerson Palmieri was part of the Chelsea squad that won the Europa League title last season by beating Arsenal in the final.
