Premier League giants Manchester United were one of the clubs keen to sign Portuguese international Joao Felix before he left Benfica to join Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in the ‘summer.

Other clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Real Madrid were also credited with an interest in the player who came through the ranks at Portuguese champions Benfica.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United passed up the opportunity to sign Joao Felix this summer.

It was revealed that the young Atletico Madrid attacker could have been a Manchester United player if not for the doubts over his ability to cope with the physicality associated with the Premier League.

Manchester United made just three signings in the summer with two coming in defence.

The only attacking signing made in the summer was that of Daniel James who signed for Manchester United from the English Championship side Swansea City.

Manchester United paid an initial fee of 15 million pounds to sign the Welsh international winger.

Apart from Daniel James, Manchester United also signed Harry Maguire in a deal that made him the world’s most expensive defender at 80 million pounds.

Harry Maguire signed from Leicester City alongside Aaron Wan-Bissaka who joined from Crystal Palace.
