As much as it’s a tough time for all Manchester United fans around the world, they’ve got to be excited about the future.

This is because the academy is doing great and one of the U23 liveliest players Matej Kovar has signed a new contract.

The 19-year-old goalie has decided to commit his future to the club after his bright start to the season.

According to the club’s official website, the Czech Republic goalkeeper decided to remain at the Carrington training ground where he’s fast becoming the next player who could break into the first-team squad.

Kovar, 19, has kept five clean sheets from six matches and his performances during matches could see him make his first-team debut before the end of the season.

Having seen the player signed the new deal, United’s head of Academy couldn’t hold back his excitement as he praised the goalie.

He said: “Both Matej and Alex deserve these contracts; they’ve come from the Czech Republic and Slovakia and settled really well in Manchester,”

“Signing their contracts will enable both goalkeepers to continue their development under our excellent coaches.

“This is a great time for our academy goalkeepers with both Dean Henderson [England] and Kieran O’Hara [Republic of Ireland] receiving senior international call-ups, and we are looking forward to seeing all of our young keepers fulfil their potentials.” he concluded.

This should come as good news to United supporters because of Matej Kovar — a potential replacement for David De Gea — has decided to stay glue to the team.
