Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer openly defended his team’s performance during his post-match conference after their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle last week.

However, the manager was furious with his players behind the scene as he claimed they put up an ’embarrassing’ display against the Magpies.

According to one of Metro’s reports, the manager blasted his players for being lackadaisical against the Magpies who scored a goal in the second half of the encounter.

As things stand, the manager is more likely to be shown the exit door by his employers, and he has reportedly told the players to up their game if they still want him at the helm of affairs.

Another British media The Sun claimed that the Red Devils boss could be sacked sooner than expected should he fail to record a positive result against Liverpool at Old Trafford after the ongoing international break.

Liverpool, who are yet to drop a single point this season, are in their best form and it seems impossible for United to prevent them from picking the maximum points.

A win over Liverpool will go a long way in saving Solskjaer’s job, while a draw will also play a role in convincing the board members.

But the question is – can Solskjaer’s men do the unexpected against the high-flying Reds?
