Immediate past European champions Real Madrid got the better of newly promoted side Granada in a thriller to move four points clear at the top of the Spanish La Liga table.

The two teams (Real Madrid and Granada) met at the Estadio Santiago Bernebeu on Saturday in what was a week eight clash in the Spanish top flight.

Real Madrid and Granada started the weekend in the first and second position on the Spanish La Liga table respectively.

They served up a six-goal thriller as Real Madrid secured the win needed to move four points clear of their opponents at the top of the table.

It was the first win for Real Madrid in three games.

Real Madrid beat Granada 4-2 at home as record signing Eden Hazard hit his first goal for his new team.

The Belgian international has been under pressure to perform following his summer move from Premier League giants Chelsea.

He missed the first month of the season with an injury sustained before the current campaign started.

Hazard scored the second goal on the stroke of halftime to put Real Madrid 2-0 up at the interval.

Karim Benzema had given Real Madrid a second minute lead.

Luka Modric added a third goal on the hour mark before Granada pulled two goals back through Dawkin Machis (penalty) and Domingos Duarte.

James Rodriguez wrapped up the points towards the end of the game.
