Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard would sit out the Premier League game with struggling Newcastle United this weekend because of injury.
The England international suffered a hamstring injury during the second half of the Europa League game with hosts AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night and he will miss the league trip to the Northeast as a result of the said injury.
It has been a difficult few days for Jesse Lingard who was left out of the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria on October 11 and Czech Republic on October 14.
He was a notable absentee on the 25-man list released by England manager Gareth Southgate on Thursday shortly before the Manchester United Academy player sustained the injury as mentioned above.
Lingard suffered the injury shortly after coming on as a 75th minute substitute for Mason Greenwood during the AZ Alkmaar game which ended in a goalless draw.
The result meant that Manchester United lost top spot to Serbian side Partizan Belgrade in Group L after their win over Astana FC of Kazakhstan.
Partizan Belgrade beat Astana FC of Kazakhstan 2-1 away from home to snatch the group summit from Manchester United on goal difference since the two teams have four points from two games.
