Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov joined Manchester United from Tottenham in 2008 summer transfer window despite City’s unrelenting desire to see him at the Etihad Stadium.

The now retired Bulgarian star told reporters that he was approached by the Citizens over the possibility of joining them before the end of the 2008 summer transfer window as part of their mission to have a strong squad.

However, Berbatov ignored the Citizens as he went on to complete his £30m move to the Old Trafford during the deadline day.

Speaking to Stephen Howson, the striker revealed that United has always been his dream club and he wouldn’t let go of the chance to achieve his dream.

According to him, the Red Devils is a great club with huge history, great manager, massive Stadium and wonderful fans and it was a great pleasure playing for such club.

“Manchester United are history. The manager, the titles, the players, the stadium, everything.

“This is what I wanted because sometimes you are getting in love with the history of something, with the past, you say I want to be a part of the future.

“And I still think it was the right choice for me to do and I will never regret it because it was something magical.”

During his four-year spell at Old Trafford, the fans favorite played 149 matches in which he scored 56 goals and 27 assists.
