Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has had his say on the penalty mission that cost his team a share of the spoils in the opening Champions League clash with Spanish La Liga outfit Valencia.

The Blues played hosts to Valencia at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night in their first game back with the big boys and it didn’t end well after losing by a lone goal.

Chelsea had the chance to pick up a point only for an 87th minute penalty from Ross Barkley hit the crossbar.

Valencia got the only goal of the game through Rodrigo who profited from an assist from club captain Dani Parejo.

After the game, Frank Lampard talked about that crucial penalty miss.

According to him, England international midfielder Ross Barkley is the designated penalty taker for Chelsea whenever he’s on the pitch.

Chelsea were left with an additional injury to deal with after young midfielder Mason Mount was taken off in the first half of the Valencia game.

Mason Mount sustained an ankle injury after just 16 minutes of the Champions League match and he was replaced by Pedro Rodriguez.

The recently capped England international has been in very good form for Chelsea after netting three goals in the first five league games this season.
