Rudiger is seen as the first choice central defender at Chelsea and it remains to be seen whether Frank Lampard will throw him into the war front immediately with Wolves lurking around the corner.
The trio of Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori have all shared centre back duties this season.
Zouma and Christensen have been the first choice centre back partnership for the majority of this season.
Chelsea have been one of the worst teams defensively after conceding nine goals in the first four games of the new league season.
