The Dutch defender has reportedly agreed to a huge deal with Liverpool – and it’s all thanks to the Red Devils.
Manchester United broke the transfer record held by Virgil Van Dijk to make the former Leicester City defender, Maguire the most expensive defender this summer.
According to Daily Mirror, The £80million transfer of Harry Maguire to Old Trafford has yielded in a huge wage hike for Virgil Van Dijk.
Van Dijk is currently earning £125,000 per week, a deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2025, will reportedly push him closer to earning £200,000 per week.

According to the Mirror, There have been ongoing negotiations before Maguire joined Manchester United, but the world record transfer broken by United gave Van Dijk’s representatives the negotiating power they needed.
Van Dijk, who joined Liverpool from Southampton in January 2018, won the footballer of the year award by edging over Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi respectively.
Virgil Van Dijk was also voted PFA Player of the Year after helping Liverpool with 22 clean sheets in the Premier League.
