Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has been called up to the French national team as a replacement for Manchester United star Paul Pogba.

Guendouzi was called up to the Les Blues squad on Monday.

The 20-year-old was elevated from the France u21s to the senior team by manager Didier Deschamps ahead of their 2020 Euro qualifiers against Albania and Andorra.

Paul Pogba withdrew from the French team because of an ankle injury paving the way for the aforementioned Guendouzi to replace him ahead of the qualifiers.

The Manchester United midfielder was seen limping after the league game at Southampton during the weekend.

Pogba played the entire duration the game as Manchester United were forced to a 1-1 draw at the home of the Saints.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping that Pogba is fit for the next league game which is at home to former Premier League winners Leicester City.

His place in the French squad belongs to Matteo Guendouzi for now after the young midfielder produced a man-of-the-match performance in the North London clash between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium.

Guendouzi shone a great day for Arsenal as they dropped points at home for the first time this season.
