Chelsea manager Frank Lampard reportedly slammed David Luiz for his performances during pre-season and that created tension between the two parties thereby leading to the exit of the Brazilian centre back before the end of the Premier League transfer window.

David Luiz left Chelsea to join London rivals Arsenal in a deal said to be around £8m.

He moved to the Gunners on deadline day of this summer’s transfer window in the Premier League.

According to the publication from the Independent, Frank Lampard clashed with David Luiz over his poor performance in preseason and that played a big role in his shock exit.

David Luiz was said to be relegated to being the fourth choice centre back by new Chelsea manager Lampard before the player decided to link up with Unai Emery in North London.

He played under Unai Emery while the Spaniard was the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) manager.

David Luiz spent seven years at Chelsea over two spells.

His two-year stay with PSG is sandwiched in between his two spells as a Chelsea player.

After sealing his move to Arsenal earlier this month, David Luiz discussed about his Chelsea exit as he said that manager Frank Lampard had a different plan for him which ultimately led to his move to Arsenal.
